If anyone else can confirm this behaviour on 1.7, then we need to bring back the way the 1.7 core handles audio. Plugins: Jabo gfx/Jabo or azimer audio/zilmar rsp, HLE GFX

Sync game to audio is never enabled in jabo's plugin for these tests (doesnt fix anything in 2.x when i turn it on anyway, unless i disable frame limiter as well, which like i said is the equivalent of enabling both fixed audio timing and sync using audio in the rom settings, causing 63VI/s) These problems occur with both azimer's plugin and jabo's plugin (havent tried other plugins, but the point is that the problems aren't present in 1.7 with any audio plugin) example of the popping on 2.x with some games (1.7 has no popping) The gaps are there because these games want to play at 63VI/s for some reason (fixed audio + sync using audio -OR- sync game to audio + frame limiter off), but on 1.7 they are perfectly happy providing gapless audio at 60.00VI/s
