***MAIN REASON FOR POST: This *SHOULD* be very general knowledge amongst the HP community forums but after searching for it several times either generically or with my model number I never found the answer.
Laptop: Turn on or restart computer, start hitting esc repeatedly immediately (if HP screen comes up you're too late, try again), hit F10 for the BIOS menu and look on the advanced tab to switch 'Action Keys Mode' from to to allow f1-f12 to act as function keys as opposed to action keys. Cannot change anything in the BIOS or in Windows to allow f1-f12 to act as function keys as opposed to action keys (volume, brightness, etc.).PLEASE see below for details - THIS IS IMPORTANT*** Desktop PC: Not possible need a keyboard that allows it via 'fn lock' or keyboard without action keys over f1-f12.
